Gunstar Heroes ガンスターヒーローズ Gansutā Hīrōzu is the licensed soundtrack of the Sega Mega Drive video game by the same name. It was released by Pioneer LDC on October 27, 1993 in Japan only. The music was written and composed by Norio Hanzawa under his pseudonym NON. The tracks in the album are all rearranged from the versions in the actual game, using superior instrumentation than the Mega Drive sound synthesis. All tracks were performed by Hanzawa along with Nazo2 Unit. Enter the Gunstar Heroes, Red and Blue Unleash some mad blasting action onto the Colonel's army and don't let him bring GoldenSilver to life The fate of Gunstar-9 is in your hands Written by Shawn Watson. For me it was the perfect weapon. know that chaserchaser worked better, because it were many beans, but the living laser, as I would call the combination above, was faster, and I didn't have to direct it. The only thing I didn't like was that Gunstar Green wasn't available as a playable character, but nothing is perfect. 3 of 3 people found this review helpful. Yet another fantastic sounding Data Discs release. Personally I prefer my records to come in poly-lined sleeves (keeps the records better protected from static and scratches) rather than the card ones here but the overall packaging design and choice of images is great and makes up for it. Just have to shell out on my pricey sleeves to keep the actually records in pristine condition I guess *sigh*.As for the soundtrack, it is very good and high energy but no exactly top tier. Almost all the tracks use the same FM sounds and although it brings a unity to the tracks they can all become a little samey; almost all sounds have this delayed LFO pitch wobble which does sound pretty cool but it is everywhere! Still there are some great moments throughout. Not exactly up there with the best of Data DIscs' output but still nothing to scoff at and it holds true to the great pressing and design choices that we've come to expect from this essential label for video game enthusiasts.
Every. Single. Song. In this sound track has one or MORE incredible melodies. There are people out there that have trouble putting into a whole album what Norio Hanzawa managed to cram into a single song. This is one of the greatest gaming soundtracks ever, full stop.
