Short intro

Matador Singles 08 - Jay Reatard. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Matador Singles '08 collects all of them and adds a bonus track. If you've been following Jay for a while you sort of know what to expect from the songs, and that's lo-fi blasts of a unique concoction made up of raw garage rock and jittery post-punk, topped with sharp hooks and Reatard's yowling vocals. Earlier in 2008, Jay Reatard released a collection of singles recorded for various labels over two years Singles 06-07, and followed it in the fall with Matador Singles 08, neatly culling a half-dozen 7 singles on the Matador label into one set. This collection makes for surprisingly cohesive listening as Reatard continues to refine his groove, so to speak, channeling his furiously wild energy into music clearly influenced by pioneers of pop-punk. I know this song is hard to come by so I thought what the hay why don't I upload it for everyone who album is actually the second Reatard singles compilation to come out this year, as his old label, Into the Red, recently released a Singles 06-07 collection last summer. And yet, after listening to both releases back to back, its remarkable to consider how much Reatard has evolved in a matter of months-literally, months. Sure, the snarling, spitting, punk-rock champion of Blood Visions still shows up on Singles 08, but hes much less of a draw. Which is another way of admitting that what Reatard is attempting on Singles 08 is hardly original if it is completely welcome at the same time. Memphis-based rocker Jay Reatard has attracted attention by so far releasing his first ten tunes only on vinyl 45. Anticipation for such a rare single caused the Matador web page to crash after thousands logged on and tried to purchase it will now be on the CD in the shop but is not on the pro. Just four months after his In the Red-released collection, Singles 06-07, Jay Reatard returns with another compilation of garage-punk micro-epics, one that shows more range, including acoustic guitars and nods to kiwi-pop. Just like the guy in the tub on this record's cover, you might consider singles to be completely different animals. Not usually beholden to the greater aesthetic or weight of an album, the single can stand on its own two pegs. Jay Reatard. SeeSaw, 03:01. Screaming Hand, 02:00. Trapped Here, 02:53.
