Short intro

Lightning to the Nations is the debut album by British heavy metal band Diamond Head. The album was recorded in 1979 after the 1977 and 1979 demos and released in 1980 through Happy Face Records, a label owned by the producer Muff Murfin of The Old Smithy studio of Worcester, due to lack of interest from major labels and the band feeling that they needed to get the ball rolling as other bands from the same era, such as Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, were already becoming big names. It was originally. Diamond Head should have been huge, but perhaps this was their legacy, just to be one of the most important bands. Being the first doesn't always mean the best, but they certainly earned a place in metal history, and that's something particularly in metal that's hard to come by. Around the song Shoot Out the Lights I think it is, they pretty much start sounding like UFO and Thin Lizzy for the most part though on the version I have. Fav songs: 1. Am I Evil 2. The Prince 3. Lightning To The Nations 4. Sweet And Innocent 5. Sucking My Love 6. Helpless 7. It's Electric. Read more. 4 people found this helpful. Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nations 1980. Diamond Head's first album - aka the 'White Album, Lightning to the Nations, or simply Diamond Head - is somewhat like the Ark of the Covenant of heavy metal. By unlocking its New Wave of British Heavy Metal secrets, one will discover most all the connecting points between the genre's '70s originators and the ensuing '80s hordes - arguably even more so than via Iron Maiden. And, like Maiden's brilliantly roughshod eponymous debut of 1980, Diamond Head's masterpiece was anything but a marvel of recording technology, but rather a living, br. Side A. Review Summary: Diamond Head's debut album does not disappoint. It is able to give the listener complexity, catchy lyrics, headbanging aggression, and the classic NWOBHM sound people love, all in one album. I came across Diamond Head in a very standard and looked-down-upon way. I found them in Guitar Hero Metallica. Don't you hit that back button yet. I was immediately hooked and looked up their discography. Seeing as Lightning to the Nations aka The White Album was their debut and most well-received album, I decided to give it a listen. Deciding to give it a listen was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Lightning to the Nations is the debut album by heavy metal band Diamond Head. this was my favorite cd reissue of this classic from 1980, you get the lightning to the nations album plus the bonus tracks are from the 1981 eps and high voltage did a great job on this with a really cool inlay. the best cd edition of this was done by earmark records in 2004 but that was on lp
