In 1982, David Bowie released In Bertolt Brecht's Baal four years earlier, the prestigious RCA Red Seal classical label had Bowie narrating Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, and with his stint on Broadway as The Elephant Man, the artist stretched himself brilliantly. Bowie's narration starts out fairly reserved, but he becomes more playful with the characters as he goes along. By the time the story gets to the squabble between Bird and Wolf, he's clearly having as much fun as we are. Peter and the Wolf, Op.
