The Bells Of St. Mary's 1945 Bing Crosby reprises his role as good-natured Father O'Malley from 1944's Going My Way in this Oscar-nominated classic. The priest gets sent to help the financially struggling St. Mary's Academy, presided over by Sister Benedict Ingrid Bergman. O'Malley finds his leadership style at odds with the nun's as the two bicker politely but collaborate to save the school and teach the children. In this follow-up to Going My Way 1944, Bing Crosby repeats his Oscar-winning characterization of happy-go-lucky priest Father O'Malley. The good father is sent to help out financially strapped St. Mary's Academy, a parochial school presided over by lovely nun Sister Benedict. All Critics 20 Top Critics 4 Fresh 17 Rotten 3. This is a literal sequel to Going My Way, with Bing Crosby's Father O'Malley being transferred to St. Mary's , a rundown parochial school in the city where Sister Mary Benedict Ingrid Bergman is in charge. She is a strict, by the book presence who naturally has a few clashes with the lighthearted, easy going Father O'Malley, but these clashes are never overdone and in fact the two really complement each other by toning down each other's excesses. Текст песни Bing Crosby The Bells Of St. Mary's, Ah, hear they are calling, The young loves, the true loves, Who come from the sea, And so my beloved. they are calling The young loves, the true loves Who come from the sea And so my beloved When red leaves are falling The love bells shall ring out, ring out For you and me.
